April
The boys and girls in the senior classroom started their Cumann na mBunscol matches.
Round 1 for the boys was against Rathlee NS, with the girls playing a challenge match on the day as well. Our boys were a solid unit and came out on top to progress to the Semi Finals against Cliffoney NS. This challenge match proved very beneficial for our young girls team who went on to play brilliantly in their first competitive match against Cliffoney NS, coming up just short when the final whistle was blown. Our boys once again had a great team performance with some lovely passages of play to get a win. Our boys will now progress onto the semi final of the competition and the girls will compete in the semi final of the shield. A massive well done to both teams who left everything on the field and represented our school impeccably.
It has also been a very busy month in school. As well as training for our Gaelic matches, the senior classroom ran an Active Schools Week. The senior classroom learned a dance to "I'm still Standing" and taught it to the younger boys and girls in the school. They also taught and facilitated active games done through station teaching to the younger boys and girls. The games included a shape hunt, number match game, skipping, tennis ball games and tag rugby games. Well done to all the students in the Senior Classroom for setting such a good example and to Mrs. Neary's and Ms. Singh's classrooms for being so well behaved.
We have also been learning about the World Wars, as well as 3D shapes in math. Take a look at some of our work.
